Crochet Spray Stitch, an easy textured crochet stitch
The Crochet Spray Stitch, also known as Blanket Stitch, has a similar look to the Lemon Peel crochet stitch. It is easy, textured, and reversible.
Like the previous patterns (listed below) the Spray Stitch is also a combination of single and double crochet stitches (US terms).
The stitch creates a bobble-like look, very neatly in straight columns.
It is such a versatile stitch and would probably make any crochet project look exquisite.

- Dishcloths/Washcloths
- Blanket/Throws
- Scarves
- Bags or pouches
- Wearables
I’ve used the Spray Stitch to make the easy dishcloth pattern featured in the image below — creating a beautifully textured fabric that’s both sturdy and gentle enough for daily kitchen use.
It’s one of those stitches that looks detailed but is surprisingly easy to memorise, making it perfect for relaxing crochet sessions. Plus, it works wonderfully with cotton yarn, giving your dishcloth just the right balance of grip and softness.
If you’re keen to see how this stitch translates into a finished piece (and put your skills to good use), you can hop over to the full dishcloth pattern for instructions and tips.
