SANTA CROCHETED HANGER COVERS

The hanger cover is crocheted in a double crochet stitch (US or treble in the UK), which makes it suitable for any skill level crocheter. You’ll need less than a ball (skein) of the four colors used.

Who said a wooden hanger can not be added to your Christmas decor?!

SANTA CROCHETED HANGER COVERs

STITCH PATTERN FOR A CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEA:

US terms

Use 4 colors of yarn

Written Instructions

1st Row 1 – In red ch70  + 2.  In the third chain from your hook, dc, and in every other chain, ch 2, turn.

2nd Row   – In black – dc acorss, ch2 and turn.

Rows 3 to 6 – In red, repeat row 1.

I crocheted 6 rows of double crochet rows, which measure 17.5″ long and 2.5″ to 3″ wide.

Do not fasten off as you will need your working yarn to crochet the ends closed.

FINISHING YOUR SANTA CROCHETED HANGER COVERS

Find the central point of your piece of work – from top to bottom and from one side to the other.

With the right side facing, slip your crochet cover through the hanger’s hook and ensure that it fits nicely around the edges.

Take your working yarn and use slip stitches to join the long edge and one side together.  Use the tail of your starting yarn, to sew the other side closed.

FLUFFY EDGE

Attach the fluffy yarn any place to the crochet hanger covers and work single crochet stitches around the whole hanger.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

HoOK OF THE HANGER

Cover the hook in slip stitches or macrame knots – work from the bottom, securing the yarn to your work.  Dot a bit of glue to the end to ensure that it will not unravel.

SANTA’s BUCKLE

In golden yellow, ch 20 + 1

In second ch from the hook, *sc4, make 2 sc’s in the next st, sc9, make 2 sc’s in the next st** repeat from * to **.

Fasten off (with a longish tail), weave the yarn through a yarn needle and sew the buckle to the hanger cover (in the middle – as in the images).
