A new baby is one of the most Godly miracles in the world.

If the new arrival is related, it is even more precious....

So, when this grandma decided to make something more 'lasting' for her new grandson, Jacques, she went to one of her happy places - Pinterest for inspiration.

The pattern had to be:

• ​Super easy
• Quick and
• with not extra sewing required

I picked the easy one-stitch chevron pattern from vivaciouslyvintage.com, now Ansley Designs. 

The blogger, Ansley used multiple colours (for a girl), and I liked the effect thereof.

Here are the requirements:

Hook size:  4mm (UK)

Yarn:          Double knit in lime, white, navy and grey

                  (Suggested yarns - King Cole Comfort Baby DK)

                                  ​             - Peter Pan Baby DK

                                  ​             - Sirdar Snuggly Baby Bamboo DK

Abbreviation:  

Sc - Single crochet (in UK = double crochet)

Ch - Chain

St - Stitch​

Pattern:

I used the pattern as provided in the related post (as copied from the original post in All Things Bright and Beautiful Crafts) but adjusted the rows according to my colours:

Row 1: With Lime, chain 183 (NOTE: To make bigger work in multiples of 15 or to get the symmetry multiples of 30)

Row 2: Sc in second st from hook, * Sc in each of next 14 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in each of next 14 ch, skip 1 ch, repeat from * across, ending with the skip 1 st, sc in last st, ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Working in back loop of sts throughout, sc in first sc, skip 1 sc, * sc in each of next 14 sc's, 3 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 14 sts, skip 2 sts, repeat from * across, ending last repeat with skip 1 st, sc in last st, ch 1, turn.

Row 4 and rest:  Repeat Row 3 for the rest of the rows.

Here is how I crocheted my rows:

Lime -  10 rows

White - 6 rows

Navy -  2 rows

White - 6 rows

Grey -  10 rows

White - 6 rows

Navy -  2 rows

White - 6 rows

Lime -  10​ rows 

Repeat all the above rows x 2, ending with the Lime again.

(My lime yarn was also a bit thicker than the rest, so the rows ended up being the same height)​

I used Elle Baby Gold yarn, which comes in 100g balls.  I used about 1 ball per 10 rows.​

The blanket came in handy as a back-drop for the Stork party (and to hide an ugly cupboard)!

Procrastination is so typically me, but this time, I beat it!  

What a rewarding feeling it is to complete something handmade and to know that the recipient will cherish.

This is my first real blanket and I am hoping that this will inspire you too!
