Today, I am sharing:

How to knit a mitered square variation

mitered knit square with garter stitch ridges knitsquare garterstitchridgessquare How to Knit a Mitered Square – An Awesome Variation

The new variation is knit in stocking stitch with a garter stitch row every 4th row.

The result is a definite difference from the original pattern and adds dimension to it.

For some reason – the square refuses to be square if just knit in stocking stitch.  If you know the secret to get it right, please share it with me.

What you’ll need:

I used:

  • Knitting Needles (I used 4mm, 6US, 8UK)
  • Elle Gold Double Knit (DK) yarn / Light worsted yarn
  • Stitch Markers
  • Blunt Needles (stitching it together)
  • The pattern

How to use the knit mitered square variation?

Decide on the dimensions of the throw/blanket you want to make.

Then knit several squares and arrange it to form the outline according to your dimensions.

You’ll get an indication of how many squares you’ll be needing to complete one row and then how many rows to complete the throw/blanket = x amount of squares.

The knit square variation pattern can be used to form a block around the middle or around the border of your throw.
