abbreviations

k        - knit

k3 tog- knit  3 stitches together

p        - purl

p2tog - purl 2 tog

psso   - pass slipped stitch over

rep     - repeat

rs       - right side

s1pw  - slip one stitch purl-wise

st        - stitch

yo       - yarn over

ws       - wrong side

Explaining (k1, yo, k1) all in same stitch:

(k1, yo, k1) in same (one) stitch is the abbreviation for:  knit one, yarn over and knit again, all in the same stitch;

In other words, you will be knitting the stitch, but before you transfer it to the right needle, bring the yarn from the back to the front (increase stitch) and knit in the same stitch again and transfer all three stitches to the right needle.

You've created 3 stitches out of one.

All the even rows:  knit the knit sts and purl the purl sts, and purl the yarn overs:

In other words - (k1, yo, k1) all in same stitch in rs row, will be knitted as k1, p1, k1 in the ws row.

The original Little Blossom stitch is knit in multiples of 6 stitches + 5 over 12 rows.
