traditional moss or seed stitch
Also known as: Seed or British Moss Stitch
Pattern:
- Multiples of 2 stitches
- 2 row repeat.
Characteristics of the pattern: Firm, Classy and Reversible.
The following are 4-row pattern variations:
moss rib stitch
Also known as: No known alternative names
- Multiples of 4 stitches
- 2 row repeat.
Characteristics of the pattern: Firm, Tidy and Reversible.

moss stitch triangles
Also known as: No known alternative names
- Multiples of 8 stitches
- 12 row repeat.
Characteristics of the pattern: Textured vertical triangles in moss and stocking stitch.
double knit moss stitch
Also known as: American moss stitch although there is a difference in the stitch patterns.
- Multiples of 4 stitches
- 2 row repeat.
Characteristics of the pattern: Textured.
Variations of Double Moss: aka called Double Moss
- Multiples of 4 stitches
- 4 row repeat.
American Moss Stitch is worked in a 4-row stitch pattern and is often called double moss stitch, again it does not look the same as this particular double moss stitch version (which is a bit confusing).
seed stitch trellis/moss stitch trellis
Also known as: British Moss Trellis or Seed stitch Trellis.
- Multiples of 10 + 1 stitches
- 10 row repeat.
Characteristics of the pattern: The trellis is outlined with moss (seed) stitch, with stockinette stitch in the middle, or inside of the trellis.
moss stitch zigzag
Also known as: ZigZag Seed stitch
- Multiples of 9 stitches
- 10 row repeat.
Characteristics of the pattern: Moss stitch in diagonal chevron style, worked on a stocking stitch bakcground.

Also known as: Seed Stitch Diamonds
- Multiples of 14 stitches
- 32 row repeat.
Characteristics of the pattern: The knit moss stitch diamonds are diamond moss stitch outlines with garter and stocking stitch panes filling the inner parts. The pattern is reversible.

- Multiples of 10 + 3 stitches
- 10 row repeat.
Characteristics of the pattern: rows of knit and purl stitches forming columns of stockinette stitch blocked with moss stitch
