Knitting Stitches and How to Knit Twisted Moss Stitch

I am always looking to knit a new and easy stitch pattern and yesterday learned how to knit twisted moss stitch.

It is not a coincidence that it is yet another moss stitch, as moss stitch is one of my absolute favorite knit stitch patterns.

Regardless, I plan to add many more interesting knitting stitches for you, not just moss or seed stitch patterns.

more about the twisted moss stitch

The pattern is knit over 4 rows.

One knits the pattern stitch on the wrong side of the knitting project.

When you start knitting any piece (first row), your starting yarn will be on your left (if you are knitting European style).

As you progress with the piece, you will eventually cast off, and then the finishing yarn will be at the top right.

In this instance, you will knit your whole item, but the reverse side will be your pattern side – meaning the starting yarn will be at the bottom right and the finishing yarn, at the top left.

The image below explains it all.

Explaining K1B:

K1B is the abbreviation for:  knit one stitch below the stitch on the needle;

In other words, you will be knitting the stitch in the stitch from the previous row.

How do you do this?

Knit through the center of the stitch below the stitch on the needle and slip off both strands at the same time.
