Quick KNitWritten Instructions to knit Dish Cloths

US terms were used.

Although the pattern is reversible, the stitch pattern is on what we know as the wrong side.

Using DK yarn with matching needles and cast on 60 stitches.

Row 1 (WS): K3, P1 to last stitch, Ktbl (knit through back loop).

(It is not necessary if you are going to crochet an edge around the finished tea towel)

Row 2 (RS):  Knit

Rows 1 and 2 form the stitch pattern.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for the entire length of the towel.  To reach my measurements, I knitted 128 rows.

Cast off in the pattern, meaning in row 2, don’t bind off yet.

Using a crochet hook and single crochet sts create an edge around 2 sides of the dish toweland the cast-on edge. Sc in each stitch and 2 single crochet in the corners. When you reach the top right of your crochet project, chain 15 + 1 and slip stitch into the first st to form a hanging loop. Turn and single crochet in each st around.  A slipped stitch edge would look equally neat around the edges.

You can always use a technique of your choice to finish the edges of your great gift!

Bind off, weave in the ends, and block gently for the best finish.

Finishing Touches & Tips

  • Use a neutral or bold color to match your kitchen decor.
  • Make a matching set by knitting coordinating dishcloths.
  • These tea towels make thoughtful housewarming gifts!
  • To create eye-catching finished items, your choice of color and choice of pattern is very important.
  • For neat edges, always slip your first stitch (knit-wise).
