  • We’re making this triangle from the bottom up, so start with more stitches and decrease every other row. When you decrease for the tree shape, you’ll see your winter tree knitting pattern take form row by row.
  • kspo (knit one, slip one, pass over): Knit the first stitch, slip the next stitch, and pull the knitted st over the slipped st. That’s it! You’ve got a tidy decrease that leans nicely.

Follow these easy directions to knit mini mitered trees for a festive Christmas tree garland knitting pattern.

3rd Row:   k6, k2tog, k1, kspo , k6 (15sts).

5th Row:   k5, k2tog, k1, kspo , k5 (13sts).

7th Row:   k4, k2tog, k1, kspo , k4 (11sts).

9th Row:   k3, k2tog, k1, kspo , k3 (9sts).

11th Row: k2, k2tog, k1, kspo , k2 (7sts).

13th Row: k1, k2tog, k1, kspo , k1   (5sts).

15th Row: k2tog, k1, kspo (3sts).

Last row:  k3tog and bind off.

the Trunk

Take a small piece of cinnamon stick and glue it at the bottom center of your tree.

For a little boho-chic vibe, skip the trunk and dangle mini tassels from the bottom of your tree instead.

Hanging Loop

Grab a 1 to 4-inch piece of yarn and thread it onto your needle. Pop the needle through the top of your tree, then tie the ends together. Give the loop a little tug to snug it in, and if you like, a tiny dab of glue will keep it extra secure.

Tiny Bows or Stars

Cut small pieces of thin twine, about 4–5 inches each. Tie each piece into a little bow and snip the ends to your liking. Pop the bows wherever you like on your tree—just tuck them gently into the stitches or give them a tiny dab of glue dots to hold them in place.

Pop on some little stars—cut your own from felt, or grab some cute star-shaped trinkets from the store.

Hanging Your Mini Tree

Thread a ribbon or piece of twine through the hanging loop at the top of your tree. Tie a neat knot at the top, and now your mini tree is ready to hang anywhere you fancy—on a branch, a hook, or even as a cute gift tag!
