Crochet Hanger Cover Pattern (Boho Style)
Written Instructions in US Terms
Start
Chain 76 + 2 (adjust depending on your hanger size and thickness of your yarn).
Row 1
In the third chain, make *2 half double crochet (hdc), skip 1 chain, repeat from * to * across.
Row 2
Ch2, 2hdc between each 2hdc from the previous row, ending with 2hdc in the turning chain space.
Repeat Row 2 for a total of 9 rows, or until the piece wraps comfortably around your hanger.
Finishing
- Fold your cover in half lengthwise.
- Find the central point of your piece of work – from top to bottom and from one side to the other.
- Slip your crochet cover through the hanger’s hook and ensure that it fits nicely around the edges.
- With slip stitches, stitch the edges together snugly around the hanger.
Optional: Wrap the Hook
To complete the look, wrap the metal hook in yarn and fasten securely with hot glue. A dainty bow adds that perfect touch.
Fancy Boho Border
Use the same edging as from my 5 Shades of Grey Crochet Blanket—because let’s be honest, it’s too pretty not to reuse!
Row 1
At the end of your joining row, ch3 (counts as dc), then dc in each st across. It’s a slightly awkward row to complete, but placing the hanger flat on the table or your leg while crocheting makes it much easier to manage. Ch1 and turn.
Row 2
Sc in first st.
skip next st, *[dc, ch3, dc] in next st, skip next st, sc in next st, skip next st*, repeat this sequence to your last 4 sts,
skip next st, [dc, ch3, dc] in next st, skip next st, sc1 in last st.
Ch1 and turn.
Row 3
Sc in first st., 2 sc in ch-1 space.
*in next ch-3 space, [Dc5, picot (ch3, sl st into first ch), dc5] , sc in next sc of previous row*.
Repeat from * to * until last ch-3 space and dc5, picot, dc5.
Ch2 into last sc from previous row and end with sc in last st.
