Blocking Granny Squares
To learn how to block mini solid granny squares, refer to this Granny Square Christmas Stocking Post.

sewing SQUARES TOGETHER (into a heart)
Refer to Diagram 1 above and arrange your squares as shown. Begin by sewing the squares together creating a fabric that matches the layout.
How to sew squares together:
- Hold two squares with the right side facing each other.
- Work squares together on one side.
- Work eight squares into a rectangle.
- Fold the top 2 squares into triangles and sew the inner seams together (see image below).
- Do this with 8 squares on the other side.
- Sew two more squares together on one side (for each rectangle).
- With the right sides together, sew both squares to the top triangles (see image below).
- Fold the bottom 4 squares into a square (see image below) and sew the middle seam of the heart together (see image below), leaving the opening as per the image below.
- Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Alternatively, you can crochet the squares together as per the layout in Diagram 1.
Adding the Zipper
- With the right sides facing, sew the top of the zipper to the top of the heart opening.
- Repeat for the bottom of the zipper.
- Crochet any openings closed with slip stitches.
- After seaming, weave in all loose ends and trim any excess tails
Hanging Loop
Attach a piece of ribbon or cord to the back of the stocking, near the top edge (I glued mine with a glue gun).
