Pattern Notes
- This blanket is worked in rows, turning your work at the end of each row.
- All stitches are single crochet (US) in the back loop of the stitches.
- Color changes occur at the end of rows.
- Easy ways to adjust the size of your beautiful blanket, use a smaller hook or a larger hook. Depending on the use of the blanket, you can consider super bulky yarn, but I won’t use it for a baby blanket.
- Keep your tension even to maintain a consistent edge.
- Feel free to use cotton yarn for a lighter summer blanket or chunky yarn for a winter throw.
- Use a soft, washable yarn if gifting to new parents or children.

Special Stitches
What does “back loop only” mean?
Each crochet stitch has:
- Front loop (the part closest to you)
- Back loop (the part furthest from you)
Normally, you insert your hook under both loops, but when working BLO, you insert your hook only under the back loop.
Step-by-Step: How to Single Crochet in the Back Loop Only
See video tutorial in link below.
1. Insert hook into the back loop only of the next stitch (skip the front loop).
2. Yarn over (yo) and pull up a loop (you will have 2 loops on your hook).
3. Yarn over (yo) again and pull through both loops on your hook.
You have completed 1 single crochet in the back loop only.
