Chunky Neckwarmer Knitting Pattern Free: Cozy, Quick, and Beginner-Friendly

Featuring an easy 4-row repeat and fun bobble texture, this simple cowl knit pattern is perfect for beginner knitters wanting to build confidence while creating a handmade knit cowl scarf for gifting or personal use.

The knit stitches create vertical columns of stockinette stitch and the bobble stitch.

In my opinion the neck warmer will qualify as a unisex cowl pattern, making matching skinny neckwarmers for cold winter days easier..

SUPPLIES YOU’LL NEED

  • Yarn: Kismet Arctic Tweed Chunky, approx. 162g (122 meters / 133 yards)
  • Bulky weight yarn if substituting
  • 6 mm (US10, UK4) to 7mm (US10.75, UK2) Knitting needles, or to match your yarn (larger needles recommended for drape). For some bizarre reason I used 5.5mm (US9, UK5) needles and it was tough on my joints.

In the same stitch: (p1, k1) twice (4 sts made). Take the left needle and wrap the second, third, and fourth stitches one by one over the first stitch (as if casting off) to return to your stitch count while forming your bobble.

Adjusting the Cozy Knit Neck Warmer Pattern

You can use any yarn (ie dk weight yarn with larger needles than a 4mm) to complete this knitting project; however you’ll need to knit a gauge swatch to ensure your cowl is not too big or too small.
