THE TWISTED LADDEr knit stitch pattern
How to Knit Twisted Ladder Stitch
The Twisted ladder knit stitch pattern creates a series of stocking stitch columns (in the front of the work_ and dropped stitches that resemble ladders, hence the name.
Pattern details of the Reversible Network Knit Stitch Pattern are:
- an openwork knit stitch pattern to add to your stitch library.
- this knit stitch pattern is not reversible and the front of the work is the right side of the work or pattern.
- the wrong side of the fabric, shows garter stitch columns and twisted ladders.
- it is ideal for in-between or summer knits, especially in cotton yarn.
- the pattern is worked in multiples of four stitches, over 2 row repeats.
- It is recommended to add additional stitches to both sides of the work, to neaten the sides of the fabric. In the pattern, I added 6 sts, 3 on each side.
- the stitch name is not Twisted knit stitch, but twisted ladder knit stitch pattern, as the twist is in the 2 yarn overs forming the ladder (s).
- start with fewer stitches and knit a couple of rows to get the hang of the twisted ladder pattern, before you cast on lots of sts.

SPECIAL STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES
- The golden rule of yarn-overs is to always bring your working yarn from the back to the front and to continue with your knit or purl in the usual manner.
- Yarn overs – learn more in Openwork or Lace knitting, in the Wheatear Stitch Pattern post.
- A special technique is used to knit the 2 yarn-overs as follows: purl the first loop and whilst keeping the first stitch (knitted loop) on the right-hand needle, knit in the back loop of the second yarn-over (like you would knit into the back of a stitch) and complete the stitch. In this manner, the two yarn-overs, become 2 stitches again.
